- [Update]
- Ashdown Food Survey Discussion: Quick update about the discussion that happened last Tuesday. It seemed that lean box is non-starter since the price/cost required per day is high. One possibility is to push for longer hours in Pacific Cafe hours. Discussed more advertisement. Right now it closes at 6 pm. The goal is to increase the availability of food options. At the same time it is semi-independent. They don't have their prices online except for catering menu with sandwiches at $7. Their entree is more expensive than the same branch in the student center. And there is a 10% tech cash discount. Many people don't know about this. The idea of Pacific Cafe is just another restaurant. The new grocery store in Kendall will be premium store. There was a discussion about improving shuttle system. Majority of people who expressed continuing cooking are going to Trader Jose. Are we dropping the idea for pushing for the grocery store? With Pacific Cafe longer hours and 10% discount and the shuttle system that goes to TJ. TJ is a popular place among the students. Some go to Target as well. Target is a small store. If anyone is interested, MIT owns that building. And the lease required from the beginning to have the place as grocery. It has been mentioned that there is not a grocery store that wants to operate there. Apparently, it is not profitable.
- AHEC Retreat: The agenda was sent out. You have presentations. You can reach out to your counterpart in the past AHEC. We will update the agenda closer to the event. Discussion about the presentation structure and contents.
*[Discussion]
- New Pilots for Fall Housing Allocation: Silvia: Email from MIT housing about new pilots for fall housing allocation. MIT Housing approached us about the new pilots. There is only one room in Ashdown for couples. And Ashdown is always oversubscribed. Serving as an officer or as an AHEC member have been considered as incentives with the point system as part of the privilege of staying in Ashdown.
- Ashdown Plants: Plants in Ashdown that cause allergies. If this is an issue with the garden planting or is it the trees? Follow-up with more information about the type of allergies.
- Hulsizer Ovens: There is an oven broken in the kitchen. Are we aware of it, and why it has not been fixed. Has anyone contact Denise? Major appliances in Ashdown is broken, the first line of defense is Denies. We will update with Denise.
- Open Floor
- Question about officers continuance status. Officers should have received email by now.
- Reserved spaces in the bike room. Bikes blocking the door. It is something that we can discuss during the next AHEC meeting. Inventory officers are the best people to ask. There has not been any biking guidelines. We could provide guidelines asking people not to block the door. We can also put a sign. Maybe more than a sign. Sings are ignored.
Meeting adjourned.
