- Thirsty Ear
- Last Wednesday there was a meeting with TEEC staff, some administrators.
- Not trying to close it down, but they want to make it successful.
- Location is not very central anymore -- maybe the location needs to change.
- Does not need to make a profit, but administration wants to see money being spent well.
- TEEC's Idea: M/T/W - Wings/trivia/karaoke. Th, F - Open for renting.
- Tuesday has not been successful. Idea is to close it for one day in the week, keep programming focus.
- Kitchen is losing money, but as per Cambridge city law the kitchen needs to remain.
- Thirsty Ear has a good relationship with Ashdown, but could have a better relationship with other dorms.
- Administration may encourage members on TEEC from other dorms.
- Increase publicity for programming in Thirsty Ear.
- Officer Posters
- Communities Committee Update
- Nicole is helping out as first floor officer.
- Lecture on Sunday went very well.
- Arts outing this Friday.
- Different floors have different sizes, so perhaps different amounts of money should be allocated for floor events.
- Will return to this later.
- Ashdown Logo
- Sandro believes the current logo is good.
- Combined Thirsty Ear / Ashdown merchandise line?
- Events Committee Update
- Revere Beach Outing this Saturday (23rd).
- Olympics are coming up -- need to coordinate with TEEC, Westgate, SidPac.
- Housemaster dinner is on Sept 4th from 6:30 to 8:00. Dessert Night on evening of 5th.
- Thinking of IKEA trip on Sunday before Orientation.
- Dates for Orientation Events are close to being ironed out. Should be done around tomorrow or next week.

- Pushing 8-week gender-neutral parental leave for graduate students (currently 6-week for women, 0 for men).
- HCA Chair is writing a grant for $500,000 to support students with childcare this semester.
- Childcare currently costs a huge amount, difficult to sustain on grad student stipend.
- Brochure/Newsletter
- Brochure is done except for Events Calendar, which should be finalized soon.
- Longer form newsletter is aiming for a first draft by next Tuesday, almost-final version by the first week of August.
- Orientation Movie Planning
- Open Floor
- We have a new MIT Police patrol officer for the NW area of campus (includes us). He is patrolling here and Eastgate.
- Orpheus will send AHEC his contact info later.
- Govind should send out an email about Inventory Solicitations, put a disclaimer about how we process them once a month.
- Bike cleaning: When should we do it? Talk to Garrett.
- Kitchen Supplies: Should no longer spend lots of money on compostable kitchen supplies.
- Ask publicity to make new composting posters (only food scraps allowed!) for the bins.
