- In Beverly
- We will have to figure out transportation.
- Coordinate among AHEC to figure out dates, then get as many committee chairs as possible.
- July 4th BBQ
- Events co-chairs had meeting on the 10th to iron out details.
- Get funding from LEF.
- There exists an extensive wiki page on the organization of the event which Events Committee members can consult.
- Language Policy for Posters
- A number of CSSA posters with only Chinese text on them have been noticed in Ashdown
- Questions about accessibility of the advertised event to the residents who are not speakers of Chinese.
- Should there be an Ashdown policy requiring posters in Ashdown to be (at least partly) in English, to ensure they can be understood by all residents?
- Could be construed as an attempt to censor their content/appearance.
- Should they be forced to include a translation in English? Should they be forced to include a QR code that leads to a translated version?
- Is that infringing on their artistic freedom? What about posters with no writing at all?
- Should we consult with the ASA on this issue?
- We will suggest to the CSSA that they include English in future posters in order for their posters to be accessible to all Ashdown residents.
- Ashdown Election Policies
- Ashdown Election Policies voted on and approved.
- To be posted on the website.
- Open to revision in the future in order to resolve possible minor issues.
- Collaboration with Sidney Pacific
- Sunday 14th, 7pm, Hulsizer room.
- Discussions will mainly focus on shared events.
- Events Committee members will be present.
- We can share front-desk inventory with them if we want to.
- HCA Meeting Debrief
- Sustainability committee has drafted a letter; sent it to President Reif.
- Edgerton, Westgate & Eastgate have signed said letter.
- Promotion of backup childcare.
- Implementation of parental (instead of maternal) leave.
- Efforts to make PE classes more accessible to grad students.
- Gender Inclusive Housing
- Lisa (Chairwoman) had a meeting with housing administrators about gender inclusive housing.
- Gender inclusive housing involves rooms that are open to residents regardless of gender.
- Most of Ashdown's rooms are already open to everyone ("co-ed"), regardless of gender.
- Therefore Ashdown is already compliant with this policy.
- "Co-ed" term to be phased out, replaced by a more inclusive term.
- Housing is interested in this initiative's success.
- Lock for Garden Shed
- Garden shed has arrived. Has been set up.
- Will need to buy a lock for it. Authorize Lisa (Chairwoman) to purchase one using Ashdown funds.
- Google express
- Google express membership fee can be reimbursed.
- Will next try buying from CostCo, investigate whether there are any issues with delivery or tax exemption.
