AHEC meeting minutes
2009-04-09 19:30 Crafts Lounge (back to list)
- Ashdown Printer / IT Officer
-So, the printer needs toner. The Printer committee is in a bit of flux at the moment.
-Ben will eventually transition the IT/Printer committee.
-We discussed the possibility of the Front Desk handling paper reams, and may consider doing so.
-We may ask for people to bring IDs so we can keep track of how often paper is grabbed, and by whom.
- Bike Storage/Bike Cleanup
-There is a huge quantity of bikes in the bike room.
-That room is not appropriate for storage, and in particular for summer storage.
-We should send out an e-mail ASAP telling people to make sure they grab their bikes as they move out.
-We still aren't totally sure what the proper motivation for a bike cleanup would be.
-We're leaning toward doing a bike cleanup this summer, but we still need to work out implementation details.
-The most likely option is to tag bikes and have people remove tags for bikes they're using.
-Apparently there are also unused trash cans in the bike room. We need to determine who they belong to and find a better home for them.
- BBQ Rental Policy
-They should be locked, in general, with Denise or the front desk providing the key to people.
-We should lock them now, while we're figuring our policy out. Dheera will buy a chain lock tomorrow.
-We need to find a summer home for the grills; this is a problem Denise will need to help with.
-We should require a deposit for grills. After grills are returned, someone would need to inspect the grill's condition.
-The grills are not yet operational, until we figure out a solid policy. These are nice grills!
- GSC funding
-Applications are due June 1st.
-For the July 4th BBQ, we should apply for Weekends@MIT. Reasons:
-The event won't have alcohol
-Used LEF/ARCADE for dance party
-Probably too big for GSC funding
-Since GSC is most often used to fund relatively smaller events, we will table this planning process until we've had a chance to look at officer proposals.
- Yard Sale
-We talked about what the logistics of such an event might look like.
-Probably outside the front gate
-Probably need to advertise outside MIT (Craigslist?)
-Might piggyback off of Eastgate's sale (do it same day, 5/31, but 3-5pm instead of 1-3pm)
-Could invite Warehouse, S-P, etc. to participate
-Let's call it Waste of the Northwest :)
-Perhaps Amanda would be interested in doing it?
- Open Floor
-Retreat is this Saturday!
