AHEC meeting minutes
2009-04-09 19:30 Crafts Lounge (back to list)
- HCA Report:
- Wendy Lam (Ashdown resident) is one of the new HCA co-chairs
- The Grad Gift campaign hopes to hold an event in Ashdown. Details to follow. Grad Gift will contact AHEC.
- Recent route changes in Boston saferide were due to threats of legal action (by city ordinance, busses are not to go down certain routes, some of which the Saferide used).
- HCA will be examining data involving the new Dental Plan & Shuttles to get data to justify expanded shuttle service and dental coverage.
- The Trader Joe's shuttle will end this semester (it was the result of a one time donation). There was talk of adding shopping destinations to suttle routes.
- Officer Dinner and Transition:
- The dinner will be in the Hulsizer room during dining hours. Dining will not be closed.
- Transition will take place at dinner.
- Need explaination of new rules for officers and lottery.
- We will send Sandy a list of people who are officers and who were officers but are not continuing to avoid confusion.
- Our list is on the AHEC Ashdown Wiki.
- 100-200 vacancies expected in Ashdown
- The current lottery is only for people with continuing status or a renewable assignment
- Albert is handling brunch committee.
- New coffee hour committee should begin to help out at brunches before transition
- Publicity committee will need some guidance from Naresh.
- Ann can take of Floor and Alumni officers
- We need a new GSC rep. We may combine the position with TEEC rep.
- Kitchen Soap Has Denise started ordering kitchen soap? Probably best to get soap from Shaw's, as opposed to industrial bulk soap. There were some enivornmentally friendly bottles at Shaw's that AHEC would like to get.
- P-Card (Ashdown Debit Card):
- Archana, Will, Movie-Officer, Albert (as Brunch chair) have P cards. There are five P cards. P-cards are in the name of the bearer, NOT Ashdown.
- New card will be needed for new brunch chair.
- Orientation Officer Job discussion with Jue Wang:
- Main Ashdown Orientation Events: Seven Seas Desserts, Special Coffee Hour and Brunch
- For the most part, the orientation officers will coordinate with respective committees, GSC, AHEC, etc.
- Thirsty Ear ran barbecue independently of AHEC.
- The Harbor cruise reception was coordinated by Eveline.
- Jue would like to have the scavenger hunt continue.
- AHEC would like floor officers to take people out around town.
- AHEC would also like an info booth and an orientation guide. Bridget (outgoing environmental officer) will make sure people know about recycling, etc. Provide shopping bags in a care package, etc
- Northwest Shuttle
- Kunle is upset that the Northwest Shuttle is full before it reaches the Ashdown stop. Often times the driver will skip the stop entirely. Suggestions for vocing his complaint: the Dean for Student Life. Brunch and Coffee hour would be the best place to solicit a petitions. A handwritten petition is better than online.
- Update: Kunle has been in contact with Wendy Lam. The best place to direct bus complaints with the HCA- Housing and Community Affairs Committee.
- Website
- Dheera wants to add a resident survey. Sample questions: Where are you from? (goal: make a world map depicting our residents) What languages do you speak? Is your room noisy? (housing lottery purposes)
- We want pictures of officers
- SP may use self-uploaded picture for front desk identification purposes. We do not want this.
- Card office pictures are private, but would be better for front desk. The folks at the front desk do NOT currently have pictures of us. Identification is done by their phenomenal memories.
